2009 Concorso Italiano Update

Jay Leno will receive the “La Bella Macchina” award at the 2009 Concorso Italiano Concorso Italiano recently made several announcements regarding their 24th annual event, including a list of Italian car clubs that will be supporting the event as well as several other items of note.

These are in addition to the previously announced move to the greener pastures of the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch.

2009 Concorso Italiano Updates:

  • Jay Leno will receive the “La Bella Macchina” award, which signifies outstanding contributions and a passion for the automotive hobby. Previous recipients include distinguished designers Sergio Pininfarina, Giotto Bizzarrini and Giorgio Giugiaro, race drivers Stirling Moss, Phil Hill and Carroll Shelby, and industry notables Piero Ferrari and Luigi Chinetti, Jr. among others.
  • Clubs that have announced their participation include: Ferrari Club of America-Pacific Region; Ferrari Owners Club; Lamborghini Club America; FIAT America; Iso-Bizzarrini Club; Allanté Club of America; American Lancia Club and Pantera International Car Club.
  • Ferrari 288 GTO 25th anniversary reunion, inspired by Joe and Margaret Sackey, is expected to garner over 15 of these supercars.
  • 50th anniversary celebration of the founding of DeTomaso.

The 2009 Concorso Italiano will take place Friday, August 14th from 9:30am – 5:00pm at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey California. Registration prices were recently reduced and there will be complimentary on-site parking with no shuttle service.
