The Ferrari GTO will be featured at the 2012 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, scheduled for March 9-11 on the 10th and 18th fairways of the Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach adjacent to the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island.

“We’ve had Ferrari GTOs on the show field before, but what we have planned for 2012 should astonish even the most devoted Ferrari aficionado,” says Bill Warner, Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance Founder and Chairman.”This remarkable sports car is the ultimate GT machine to generations of collectors and racers alike and is one of the most coveted of all the Ferraris. I can’t wait to hear those incredible V12s cross the 18th fairway on Sunday morning.”

The Ferrari GTO will take center stage at the 17th annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, when the exclusively GTO class takes to the show field to honor the 50th anniversary of Ferrari’s GT racing masterpiece. This will be a rare gathering of the legendary GT racers that made its international debut at the 1962 12 Hours of Sebring and proceeded to dominate international GT racing for three years.

Due to its limited production numbers, sleek GT styling, and rich competition history, GTOs are highly prized and considered a work of art by collectors and automotive journalists around the world. The GTO sold originally for about $18,000 in the United States. On the rare occasion when one does change hands, it is usually in extremely private circumstances and the price tag is easily in the multi-million dollar range.

The 2012 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance will be held March 9-11 on the 10th and 18th fairways of The Golf Club of Amelia Island at Summer Beach adjacent to The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. The honoree for 2012 will be rally and endurance racing legend Vic Elford. Since its inception in 1996 the Concours’ Foundation has donated nearly $1.8 million to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Inc. and other charities on Florida’s First Coast.
