In 1913, Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin created Bamford and Martin Limited to sell cars made by Singer from a London-based plant.
Racing success by Martin at the 1914 Aston Hill Climb prompted a name change to the famed Aston Martin known throughout the motoring world. This event also incited the partners to make their own vehicles. As the saying goes, the rest is history.
To support this history, Aston Martin recently created the Aston Martin Heritage web site for customers and enthusiasts with an interest in classic Aston Martins. The site Aston Martin Heritage contains information about classic Astons, including model specifications, part catalogs and various other data and images. Aston Martin hopes the site will become an authoritative point of reference for classic models and technical support.
