Early Highlights for 2016 Auctions America California

The 2016 Auctions America California sale will be held June 25-26 at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The company’s fourth annual Southern California auction will feature a selection of 300 automobiles and select automobilia over the two-day event.

“This year’s Santa Monica auction will once again highlight both blue-chip collector cars as well as many emerging classics typified by the vibrant local enthusiast community,” said Matt Malamut, Car Specialist, Auctions America. “Our team at Auctions America has again put together an impressive group of motor cars for this year’s sale, highlighted by late-model sports cars which, as a genre, continue to attract new, younger collectors to the hobby.”

Early highlights for the 2016 Auctions America Santa Monica auction are led by a 1996 Ferrari F50. Finished in traditional Rosso Corsa over a two-tone black and red interior, the F50 is one of 55 U.S.-specification examples built. The recipient of a full major-service, which included replacement of its fuel bladders, it has been recently granted Ferrari Classiche certification (Est. $1,800,000 – $2,100,000).

The F50 headlines a docket of European automobiles secured for the June sale. Other Ferraris include a 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona “Euro”, offered fresh to the U.S. market from Japan, and benefiting from a recent cosmetic refinishing (Est. $750,000 – $850,000); and a low-mileage 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, presented in yellow over black interior, and complete with books and tools (Est. $325,000 – $375,000).

For enthusiasts of American-built automobiles, the choices include a restored 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429. Finished in Candy Apple Red with a black interior, the Mustang comes to auction fresh from a three-year restoration, well-documented, and showing 35,000 miles (Est. $250,000 – $275,000). Additional American-built highlights include a series of 10 cars from the Midwest Duffy Grove Collection, including a 1958 Chevrolet Impala Fuel-Injected Convertible, in Onyx Black over a black/silver/turquoise interior (Est. $120,000 – $150,000); and a restored 1958 Buick Limited Convertible, equipped with a Flight Pitch Dynaflow transmission, Wonderbar radio, Autronic eye and power seats (Est. $140,000 – $160,000).

Other notable entries slated for Auctions America’s Santa Monica stage include an assortment of motorcycles, scooters and cars from the personal collection of Vinnie Mandzak, a well-respected and much-loved Southern California automotive identity, along with a select group of cars donated to the Petersen Museum specifically for fundraising purposes.
