The Bonhams Scottsdale 2015 Auction will be held January 15th at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, with more than 80 automobiles on offer at the 4th annual Bonhams Arizona Auction Week event.

Headlining the 2015 Bonhams Arizona sale will be a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione; 1955 Ferrari 250 Europa GT Alloy Coupe; 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy; 1972 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider; 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible; 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7; 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and 1964 Shelby Cobra 289; among others.

Bonhams’ 2015 Arizona offering is highlighted by a selection Ferraris, headlined by the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione Scaglietti that won its class at the 1967 Le Mans 24 Hours, 1969 Spa-Francorchamps 1000KM and 1969 Imola 500KM under Scuderia Filipinetti. The 11th of twelve built, chassis number 09079 was delivered new to race team owner Georges Filipinetti of Geneva, Switzerland.

More recently, this Ferrari 275 GTB has won several honors at shows and events, including the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, and has participated in Le Mans Classic, Silverstone Classic and Tour Auto. It was one of 60 Ferraris selected to represent the 60th anniversary of Ferrari in Beverly Hills. Its pre-sale estimate is available upon request.

Further Ferraris on offer include the 1955 250 Europa GT Alloy Coupe with coachwork by Pinin Farina originally built for the 1955 Mille Miglia. This matching-numbers example — built to competition specifications — is one of two bodied with alloy coachwork. With an engine rebuild and paint refinish by marques specialists, this well-documented car is a Ferrari Club of America Platinum Award winner and is offered with tools, manuals and factory build sheets. And while it wasn’t completed by the Modena factory in time to enter the 1955 Mille Miglia, it has run the Mille Miglia Storica numerous times (Est. $2,800,000 – $3,400,000).

Another alloy-bodied Ferrari is the 1966 275 GTB Alloy (Est. $3,300,000 – $3,600,000) with improved long nose design. Matching numbers and Ferrari Classiche-certified, it is the recipient of an restoration, finished in its original livery and running like new.

Other highlights include a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider, One of 123 factory Daytona Spiders. This matching-numbers, Ferrari Classiche red book-certified car has been in California since new and has had two owners in the last 30 years. With a restoration by experts at Junior’s House of Color, this Spider is a Ferrari Club of America Platinum Award winner (Est. $3,000,000 – $3,300,000). With four owners from new and a single owner for over 40 years, the matching-numbers 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta was sold new through the Ferrari Milano flagship store Crepaldi and has over 53,200 original miles (Est. Unavailable).

British offerings at the 2015 Bonhams Arizona sale include a matching-numbers, pre-Volante 1964 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible that epitomizes the essence of these David Brown models (Est. $1,400,000 – $1,700,000). Also from the marque is a 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe, a matching-numbers, left-hand-drive model with Vantage specification. Delivered by the factory to the United States, the Aston has had three owners from new (Est. $525,000 – $675,000).

Several of Stuttgart’s finest will cross the block at the Bonhams Scottsdale 2015 sale, including the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing owned when new by the Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, Right Honourable Lord Terence O’Neill. This matching-numbers example finished in its factory delivered livery has been restored by Scott Grundfor Company (Est. $1,300,000 – $1,600,000).

Also representing Germany is the matching-numbers 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 formerly owned by Prince Max Emanuel von Thurn and Taxis. Built specifically for homologation so Porsche could competitively race in the 1970s, this model featured a host of additions, including stiffer suspension, wider rear wheels, larger brakes and the iconic rear spoiler (Est. $850,000 – $900,000).

In 2014, Bonhams offered 101 automobiles for sale, with 87 finding a new owner, reflecting an 86% sales rate. Total sales volume was $23,380,500, inclusive of buyer’s premiums. The average price per car sold was $271,295. Top sale went to the 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Berlinetta at $3,190,000, followed by the 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Supercharged Zagato Gran Sport Spider that brought $3,080,000 and the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C that sold for $2,640,000.

Additional highlights from the Bonhams Scottsdale 2015 sale include:

  • 1966 Ferrari 330 GTC, matching-numbers example finished in the period and original bronze color of Nocciola Mettalizatto (Est. $700,000 – $900,000)
  • 1962 Facel Vega Facel II, One of fewer than 185 produced, long-time southern California car has been in the same family’s ownership for nearly 35 years (Est. $250,000 – $300,000)
  • 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Speedster, less than 6,000 miles from new, offered without reserve (Est. $225,000 – $275,000)
  • 1955 Jaguar XK140 MC Roadster, less than 22,000 original miles, matching-numbers (Est. $160,000 – $190,000)
  • 1969 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, Early L-series example, Ferrari Club of America Platinum Award winner, offered without reserve (Est. $450,000 – $500,000)
  • 1948 Automobile Shippers Special Indy Roadster, multiple Indy 500 participant, displayed at Pebble Beach, ex-Louis Rassey, Brooks Stevens and David Uihlein (Est. $300,000 – $350,000)
  • 1970 Mazda Cosmo Sport Series II L10B Coupe, substantially original example, more powerful Series II configuration (Est. $140,000 – $180,000)
  • 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, original body, chassis and drivetrain, single-family ownership from new until 2011, presented in originally delivered Princess Blue over Red (Est. $1,000,000 – $1,300,000)

These and many more pre-war classics, sports and racing cars, late-model supercars and emerging collectibles will be offered for sale at Bonhams’ fourth annual Arizona auction. The Bonhams Scottsdale auction will be held Thursday, January 15th, 2015 at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.
