Brian Redman Honored at Legends of Motorsport Sebring

Brian RedmanBrian Redman has been named Grand Marshal for the Legends of Motorsports, A Bobby Rahal Signature Event, series finale, to be held December 3 – 5, 2010 at Sebring International Raceway in Florida.

“It’s an honor to have fellow Sebring Hall of Fame member Brian Redman join us for the final event of our debut season,” 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner and series co-founder Bobby Rahal said. “His list of driving accomplishments is unparalleled and his three seasons with the Group 44 Jaguar team make him an excellent compliment to our Sebring weekend, which will feature Jaguar as well.

In four decades of sports car and open-wheel competition, Brian Redman amassed a prolific racing resume. He’s been part of four International Championship of Makes titles (1968 to 1970 and 1972), won the 1970 European 2.0-Liter Championship, three-straight F5000 Championships (1974 to 1976) and the 1981 IMSA GTP Championship. Redman also achieved great success in the world’s most difficult endurance races, winning the Targa Florio in 1970, the 24 Hours of Daytona three times (1970, 1976 and 1981), the Nurburgring 1000km twice (1969 and 1973), the Spa 10000km four times (1968, 1969, 1970 and 1972) and the 12 Hours of Sebring twice (1975 and 1978).

Redman collected IMSA GTP race wins for Group 44 Jaguar at the Grand Prix of Miami in 1984 and at Road Atlanta in 1985.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing a weekend with Legends of Motorsports,” Redman said. “I’ve been hearing very positive things within the historic racing community about this new series and I’m flattered that Bobby has invited me to serve as Grand Marshal at Sebring, one of the most storied tracks in the U.S. Pairing a track like Sebring with an iconic brand like Jaguar will make for a memorable event that I’m thrilled to be a part of.”

Legends of Motorsports brings its debut season to a close December 3 – 5, 2010, at Sebring International Raceway. In addition to historic racing with such categories as Can-Am, IMSA GT, Formula Libre and historic stock cars, the weekend will feature a diverse group of car corrals, track touring, autograph sessions, a Jaguar ride-and-drive experience and a Saturday evening awards banquet.
