For anyone who’s ever lamented that Le Mans comes only once a year there’s this 1959 MGA that promises to turn every trip into an epic race. Let’s face it, no matter how much we love racing we’ll spend far more time behind the wheel of a street car than we will a race car. Why not, then, turn each and every road trip and errand into a thrill. This 1959 MGA would seem to be able to do just that with Le Mans perfect looks and street-appropriate tuning. Outwardly the MGA looks race ready with deleted front and rear bumpers, leather hood tie downs, a faired-in headrest, a cut-down windscreen, and fender-mounted racing mirrors. The mechanical side of the equation backs these looks up with 1 ¾” SU carburetors on a performance intake, an MGB radiator, a billet crankshaft, Carillo rods, roller rockers, a ported and polished cylinder head and more. All of these modifications point to a car that looks race ready but can be driven on the street with confidence. The seller says the car was sold at Bonham’s Quail Lodge auction in 2003 and is ready to be titled for road use. If it were ours we’d trade the green windshield for clear, lose the roundels and modern gauges, and touch up the paint near the hood tie downs. Then we’d don white coveralls, run across the street, and leap over the closed door any time we needed to visit the grocery store or office. Find the MGA for sale here on eBay in San Antonio, Texas with a Buy-It-Now price of $33,750.
