Factory Built – 1997 Porsche 993 RSR 3.8

Many mechanics, garages and race shops transform Porsche 993 road cars into RSR-style race cars. This 993 was done by a company called Porsche. Which makes it a rare and well-built race car, indeed. Rarer still, this particular car was ordered with narrow rear bodywork—as opposed to the wide fender extensions it now wears—and was delivered to Porsche Motorsport North America wearing black paint. Most production based race cars are delivered as “bodies in white” as the race teams soon to take delivery quickly have cars repainted in the race teams current sponsorship livery. The combination of this 1997 993 RSR 3.8’s factory provenance, color change and unique body specification make it a very rare car. And this is on top of the RSR 3.8’s status as one of the fastest and fiercest air-cooled stock-bodied Porsche racers ever made. We love these cars for their incredible speed, tremendous on-track successes and for being one of the last air-cooled Porsche racecars ever made. If it were ours we’d put some hours on the fresh engine and transmission before backdating the bodywork and mechanicals to the as-delivered 1997 specs. Find the RSR for sale here on eBay in Eagle, Colorado.
