For better or worse, the words “project” and “Fiat Abarth” have long been combined to sell any number of things, including recycling. This seller uses those words to sell the best Abarth Zagato project we’ve in years. The seller is a reputable shop who has sold restored Zagatos in the recent past. Photos show the 1959 Fiat Abarth’s aluminum bodywork—one of the more difficult and expensive prosepects in a Double Bubble restoration—to be in fine shape with consistent lines and good panel gaps. The engine is a real and rare Abarth 1000 OT engine that should provide more power than the coupe’s original 750. The other notable deviation from stock are the four wheel disc brakes that should confidently stop the lightweight Abarth. As with any Abarth project, the biggest challenge will likely be finding and fabricating missing trim pieces which include interior door trim, headlight covers and trims for the rare and included front and rear windows. With the six-figure prices these cars regularly attain at auction and their incredibly enjoyable driving dynamics this project could be quite the buy. Find it for sale here on eBay in Eugene, Oregon with the reserve not yet met at $5,100.
