Remembering Shelby – 1967 Shelby GT350

Carroll Shelby was the best gearhead the world has ever seen. He was an even better person. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, earned Sports Illustrated’s Driver of the Year award, built the most recognized sports car on earth and led parent company Ford to the pinnacle of international racing. Then he started a charity that continues saving lives to this day. He did it all with humor, grit and Texas charm. He also smiled more than most and was better looking.

A fool’s errand then, to think a life such as this might be summed up with just one car. We don’t think so, and we won’t try. We’ll just say that, on a morning when this clean, original, long-term ownership and SAAC inspected GT350 popped up here on eBay, we couldn’t help but think about the incredible man that created these cars, popularized sports cars the world over and long ago took the time to speak with a 15 year old kid who would one day wonder how best to remember such a great man in the small confines of an automotive blog.

We should all be so kind. And smile.
