Street Racer – 1992 Porsche 911 / 964 Carrera Cup

In 1992 the proposed American Porsche Carrera Cup racing series was cancelled before it started and Porsche quietly sold the 45 specially built cars through their dealers as street cars. This is one of the 45. To a casual observer the 1992 Porsche Carrera Cup may not look much different that any other Grand Prix White 911/964. But under the paint lies a car strikingly similar to the European spec RS. The chassis boasts seam-welding, sound insulation has been deleted along with the rear seats, sunroof, air conditioning and power mirrors, the suspension and drivetrain boast significant modifications for performance and strength, and the 3.6 liter flat six pumps out 256hp. The result is a powerful, trackable car that weighs around 200lbs less than the stock U.S. spec Carrera 2. This particular car may very well be the most desirable of the 45 in existence as it is an all original, two-owner car,has been driven just over 5,000 miles and was not—as some of these cars were—converted for racing and then back to street trim when the series was cancelled. Photos show the car to be in absolutely original condition and the dealer listing the car indicates it comes with all documents, tools and spares. We love this car and would love to count ourselves among the few people lucky enough to own a U.S. street legal Porsche 964 racing special.
