The Right Cord – 1937 Cord 812 Westchester Supercharged

This fastidiously restored 1937 Cord 812 Supercharged Westchester really is the right Cord and is listed by the right owner/seller. During an eleven-year restoration, owner (and former California Institute of Technology administrator) Elliot Andrews restored every usable component on the car including 95% of the original hardware with its unique and correct markings. Parts beyond saving were swapped-out for NOS replacements or, in rare cases, newly fabricated components. He researched the correct interior material (in this case wool broadcloth in the “pleated leather” pattern) and replicated the original color of Cadet Grey that once incorporated ground fish scales and mother of pearl to create a luminescent effect. Yes, he’s the kind of guy that writes paragraph-length defenses of black wall tires and no, you probably shouldn’t tell him how much you love the Cord sofa on 1980s sitcom My Two Dads. The result of all of Andrews’ particular endeavors is a rare and beautiful Cord that comes equipped with an acceptance to the 2012 St. John’s (formerly Meadowbrook) Concours d’Elegance and the next owner will likely do quite well on the show circuit as the Cord has seldom been displayed publicly. Find it for sale here on eBay in Chelsea, Michigan.
