Time Warp Price – 1989 Porsche Speedster

This 1989 Porsche Speedster has been stored with such care everything appears as it did in 1989 including the interior, paint, tires and sub $100,000 price.  Just before the collector car bubble burst with tears and much gnashing of teeth in the late eighties, Porsche boosted its bottom line and brand recognition with a new Speedster.  This new car boasted a removable windshield and simple cloth top, and regularly sold well over its MSRP to collectors and speculators who squirrelled the cars away in air-conditioned garages.  When the car market tanked, many of the Speedsters simply stayed put.  No surprise then, that this red wide body displays just 10,500 miles and showroom perfect exterior, interior, engine compartment and chassis.  But while there’s a tremendous temptation to keep this car low mileage, we say the world already has enough low mileage Speedsters.  The real joy of this car is its refined Turbo chassis and the improvements Porsche realized over the classic 911’s thirty-five plus year lifespan.  If it were ours we’d drop the top, remove the windshield and and head out on the road for the best return on investment of any new Speedster yet.  Find the Porsche for sale here on eBay in Orange, California with a Buy-It-Now price of $92,000.

  1. I sold Porsches back when these came out – tough times for Porsche as the Dollar/Mark was way out of whack, But the Speedster we couldn’t keep. We were buying them from other Dealers to satisfy our demand. These dipped in price about 8 years ago, but it didn’t last long enough for me to get one.
