The 2009 Classy Chassis Concours d’Elegance will take the floor of Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas on Sunday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The sixth annual event will feature more than 100 unique and rare classic cars, including the featured marques – Ferrari and Packard. Among the many vintage vehicles on display this year include 1927 Bentley Speed Six Fixed Head Coupe, 1930 Isotta Fraschini 8A Flying Star Roadster, 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Runabout, 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Corsa, 1952 Ferrari 212/225 Barchetta, 1966 Chaparral 2D, 1964 Shelby Cobra and a 2004 Ferrari Enzo.
“As we enter our sixth year, we are pleased that Classy Chassis has continued to grow to become one of the country’s premier Concours events and the only show of this magnitude in the region. What makes the event even more rewarding is that all net proceeds benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children – Houston,” said Clay Becker, Chairman of Classy Chassis Concours d’Elegance.
“Shriners Hospitals for Children is thrilled to be a part of Classy Chassis Concours d’Elegance,” said Ralph J. Reynolds, Sr., Chairman, Board of Governors for Shriners Hospitals for Children – Houston. “Having the opportunity to partner with such a world-class Houston event will allow us to share our story with many more people and potentially help even more children with orthopedic conditions.”
Jim Simpson from Whidbey Island, Washington will once again serve as Chief Judge of the Concours, leading a team of experts in the selection of class and special award winners. Cars will be judged according to French Concours standards (“judging light”) and “Best in Show” award will be given out at day’s end along with first, second and third places in each class, with a number of additional special awards.
Enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy Classy Chassis Concours d’Elegance – from live music to children’s activities, the event provides entertainment for the entire family. And, returning this year, and for a donation to Shriners, guests will have the opportunity to ride in a Ferrari, Lamborghini or one of many available exotics.
This year’s commemorative artwork will again be designed by renowned automotive artist Bill Neale and will be displayed and auctioned at the private preview and reception held the evening prior to the show at Reliant Stadium.
Lead sponsors of the 2009 Classy Chassis Concours d’Elegance include Clear Channel Outdoor, Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land, and Reliant Park.
Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $7 for children ages 6 through 12, and children age five and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ticketmaster or at the gate on the day of the event. Parking at Reliant Park is $8 per vehicle.
