Concorso Italiano Leaves Airport for Greener Pastures

040209 1926 concorsoita1 Concorso Italiano Leaves Airport for Greener Pastures Concorso Italiano fans no longer have to worry about going back to the inhospitable Marina Municipal Airport, as the 24th annual Monterey Week event announced they are changing venues to the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch.

Now led by Tom McDowell, Concorso Italiano’s place as a participant in the Monterey Week was in much doubt after last year’s change of venues to the airport. While participants and spectators alike vowed to never return to Concorso after the 2008 event, the new organizers are hopeful that the return to a golf course will restore the tradition of prior years.

Laguna Seca Golf Ranch reportedly reached a five-year agreement with Concorso, with an option for another five years.

Organizers also promise an enhanced food experience at a reasonable price, exceptional wine, music, special Italian guest commentaries, fashion and other scheduled entertainment.

The 2009 Concorso Italiano will take place Friday, August 14th from 9:30am – 5:00pm. Registration prices were recently reduced and there will be complimentary on-site parking with no shuttle service.

Why are there two Italian car events going after the exact same thing on the exact same day? I wish these egos would merge their events before they crush both of them.

In this economy, there is no way both will flourish…or survive frankly.
