Ferrari Parade Breaks Guinness Record

Ferrari Silverstone Parade Broke Guinness World RecordA new world record was established for the biggest parade of Ferraris ever organised. Confirmed as a Guinness World Record, a parade of 964 Ferrari cars drove around Silverstone Circuit for Ferrari Racing Days on Saturday 15 September 2012.

Having previously set a record of 385 cars at Silverstone in 2007, the record then transferred to Japan in 2008 when Ferrari owners there achieved a parade of 490 Ferrari cars at the Suzuka circuit.

Ferrari North Europe, together with the Ferrari Owners Club GB were determined to bring it back in style and have now raised the bar to heights that will take some beating; at one point in the parade when all cars were moving simultaneously, there was less than 250m separating the lead car from the tail of the parade, meaning that the entire 3.66 miles Silverstone Grand Prix circuit was filled with Ferraris, three wide across the track.

Felipe Massa was the guest of honour, leading the parade at the wheel of a 458 Spider. “It was a really unforgettable experience,” commented the Scuderia Ferrari race driver. “It’s was a great honour for me to lead the parade for such a special event, with so many cars all brought together on one race track, which produced an unprecedented spectacle for all Prancing Horse fans.”

It was a memorable scene with nearly 1000 Ferraris from all over the UK and further afield at Silverstone circuit as part of the Ferrari Racing Days. This ambitious attempt was successful in no small part thanks to Ferrari Owners Club GB and it was all in a good cause, as Ferrari donated £5 for every car in the parade to BEN, a British charity that supports employees from the motor industry and their family.

Also taking part in the parade was Marc Gene, who attended the event as a special coach for drivers taking part in the F1 Clienti programmes. There was also an opportunity for spectators to admire the entire range of Ferrari cars, including the very latest model the F12 berlinetta.
