The Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia 2011 took place May 11-14, starting and ending in Brescia, Italy. After three days of competition, the 150 post-1957 Ferraris entered crossed the finish-line in Brescia on the night of Saturday, May 14th.

The original Mille Miglia race was last held in 1957 and this is also the cut-off year of manufacture for cars entering the contemporary race, thus excluding owners of more modern Ferraris from 1958 and beyond. Beginning with the inaugural Tribute in 2010, however, post-1957 Ferraris have their own dedicated event, the Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia.

All in all, 44 different Ferrari models from 1958 to date were selected to participate in the Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia 2011 by a special committee presided over by the Maranello marque’s deputy chairman Piero Ferrari. The teams competed in a number of categories in the regularity trial being held on the Mille Miglia route, depending on their age and model type.

The Ferrari Tribute to 1000 Miglia travelled the same path as the historic re-enactment, including through the Ferrari complex in Maranello once again this year. There, competitors took part in a special ability trial at the Fiorano circuit on the Saturday afternoon in homage to the Marque that won the classic race more often than any other.

Thursday, May 12th – Cars arrive at the Fiera di Brescia and are then exhibited in the old town of Brescia. Parade along Viale Venezia. Lunch and briefing at a prestigious venue in Brescia. Brescia-Imola leg, passing through Bologna with parade in the town centre. Overnight stop in Imola.

Friday, May 13th – Imola-Rome leg. Lunch in Sansepolcro and arrival in Rome, passing through Castel Sant’Angelo. Overnight stop in Rome.

Saturday, May 14th – Rome-Brescia leg, passing through the Fiorano circuit for ability trials. Lunch in Buonconvento and arrival in Brescia.

Final classifications were decided by regularity trials over specific sections. Aside from the overall classification, there were separate standings for “contemporary” cars from 1982 to 2010 and “classic” cars from 1958 to 1981. Similar to 2010, the entry list was heavily weighted towards modern Ferrari with only 20 Enzo-era cars in the tribute, down from 23 entrants last year.

Overall victory in the second annual Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia went to the 1992 Ferrari 512 TR piloted by Gino Verghini and Lamberto Fuso, followed by the 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia of Roberto Danesi and Doadi Sessena and the 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello crewed by Roberto and Gianmaria Giuppi.
