Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia 2012 – Results and Photos

Ferrari F40 on Mille Miglia Tribute 2012

The Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia 2012 took place May 16-20, starting and ending in Brescia, Italy. After three days of competition, nearly 115 of the 140 post-1957 Ferraris entered crossed the finish line in Brescia on the night of Saturday, May 20th.

The original Mille Miglia race was last held in 1957 and this is also the cut-off year of manufacture for cars entering the contemporary race, thus excluding owners of more modern Ferraris from 1958 and beyond. Beginning with the inaugural Tribute in 2010, however, post-1957 Ferraris have their own dedicated event, the Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia.

Final classifications in the 2012 Ferrari Tribute to Mille Miglia were decided by regularity trials over specific sections. Aside from the overall classification, there were separate standings for “modern” cars from 1982 to 2012 and “classic” cars from 1958 to 1981. Similar to 2010 and 2011, the entry list was heavily weighted towards modern Ferrari with only 21 Enzo-era cars in the tribute, a slight improvement in the 20 entrants last year, but still down from 23 cars in the inaugural rally.

Overall victory in the third annual Ferrari Mille Miglia Tribute went to the 1992 Ferrari 512 TR piloted by Gino Verghini and Lamberto Fuso, while the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT Series II Cabriolet of Carlos Lopez and Maria Eugenia Prieto took home the prize in the Classic Car category. In other words, the same results as last year!
