Gooding’s 8th annual auction, again held in association with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, will feature approximately 125 cars, including 29 estimated to reach bids in excess of $1,000,000.

The Gooding and Company Pebble Beach 2012 sale has several major offerings, highlighted by the 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster; 1964 Ford GT40 Prototype; 1953 Jaguar C-Type; 1960 Porsche RS60; 1931 Bentley 4 1/2 Litre SC “Blower” Sports 2/3 Seater Boattail; 1928 Bentley 4 1/2 Litre Le Mans Sports Bobtail; 1955 Maserati A6G/2000; 1959 Maserati Tipo 61 Birdcage; ex-Clark Gable 1935 Duesenberg Model JN Convertible Coupe; 1932 Bugatti Type 55 Cabriolet.

While the estimate on the Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster is “available upon request”, David Gooding told the New York Times Magazine the von Krieger 540 K could break the all-time auction record of $16,390,000, currently held by the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa 0666TR sold by Gooding in Pebble Beach last year. “If this car hits that number, it wouldn’t surprise me,” said Gooding.
