AAR Gurney-Weslake Eagle at Gooding Pebble Beach 2013

The Gooding and Company Pebble Beach Auction 2013 will be held Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August, 18th at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center in Pebble Beach, California. Gooding’s 10th annual auction, again held in association with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, will feature approximately 160 cars, including 35 estimated to reach bids in excess of $1,000,000.

The Gooding and Company Pebble Beach 2013 sale has several major offerings, highlighted by the 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atalante; 1948 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Competizione; 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra Competition Roadster; 1955 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione;1957 Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France 14-Louver Berlinetta; 1966 AAR Gurney-Weslake Eagle Mk 1; 1929 Bentley Speed Six Grafton Coupe; 1997 McLaren F1; 1959 Ferrari 400 Superamerica Coupe Speciale; 1967 Ferrari 365 California Spider; 1925 Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix and 1956 Maserati 150S; among others.

A host of important Porsches will also feature prominently at the 2013 Gooding Pebble Beach auction, headlined by the 1964 904 Carrera GTS; 1956 356 A 1500 GS Carrera Coupe; 1956 Porsche 356 1500 GS Carrera Speedster; 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR; 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera RS; 1996 Porsche 993 GT2 and the 1972 Porsche 911 “STR II”, a bespoke creation from Porsche arch-enthusiast Magnus Walker.

“The same year that Gooding & Company celebrates its 10th Anniversary, the Porsche 911 commemorates its 50th Anniversary. We are excited to honor these milestones together by presenting some of the world’s most significant and unique Porsches during our auction,” says David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company.

In 2012, Gooding & Company offered 123 automobiles for sale, with 110 finding a new owner, reflecting an 89.4% sales rate. Total sales volume was $113,736,600, inclusive of buyer’s premiums. The average price per car sold was $1,033,969. The top sale went to the 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K von Krieger Special Roadster at $11,770,000, followed by the 1960 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider Comp at $11,275,000 and 1957 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider Prototype at $6,600,000. The Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auction is staged at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center, located at the corner of Portola Road and Stevenson Drive. Auction preview days will be from Wednesday, August 14 through Sunday, August 18, 2013. The Saturday evening auction will start at 5:00 PM and the Sunday evening auction at 6:00 PM. Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach Auctions catalogues are available for $100 and admit two to the viewing and the auctions. Bidder registration is $200 and includes a catalogue, admission for two to the viewing and auction with two reserved seats, subject to availability. General admission tickets to the viewing and auctions may be purchased on-site for $40.
