Istanbul Concours d’Elegance 2013 Information

Kucuksu Mansion in IstanbulThe inaugural Istanbul Concours d’Elegance will be held 22-23 June 2013 at the Kucuksu Mansion in Istanbul. The first Concours in Turkey will draw upon the long history of Concours d’Elegance that started in the 1920s with horseless carriages gathering in the world’s top locations.
A total of 30 automobiles from the USA, Switzerland, UK, Greece, Italy, and Turkey will be competing in the 2013 Istanbul Concours d’Elegance in five categories. Awards will be given in the following categories based on appearance, interior design, mint condition and history: “Antiques” for 1945 and earlier makes, “Classics” for 1946 – 1960 makes, “Collectables” for 1961 – 1970 makes, “Exotics” for 1971 and newer makes as well as a “Featured Brand” that will feature the automobiles of a different manufacturer every year.
“Istanbul Concours d’Elegance has received great interest and many automobiles have been registered so we are planning to turn it into an annual event. We will be hosting leading names from the automobile world along with esteemed guests from the social and business life in Turkey and abroad. Istanbul will become one of the most important meeting points for automobile enthusiasts all around the world. We are very proud and excited to be organizing Istanbul Concours d’Elegance, and our preparations for the event continue,” said Ugur ISIK, Chairman of Sportif Motor Sporlari.
The organization committee chose Anadol, the milestone in the history of Turkish automobiles, as the Featured Brand in this year’s event. Owners of this iconic Turkish automobile have already registered and are eager to win the trophy. Selected automobiles from the private collection of the late Mr. Erdogan Gonul who created the STC (Super Touring Coupe) will also be displayed in a section dedicated to his memory.
The tickets for the event that will take place over the weekend may be purchased through the online box office Biletix. The visitors will also find the opportunity to vote for their favorite automobile among the 30 participants and contribute to the People’s Choice award category.
The debut Istanbul Concours d’Elegance will be held at the Kucuksu Pavilion, one of the most historic and charming buildings by the Bosphorus and the event will provide significant contribution to the tourism, economy and global promotion of Istanbul, the metropolitan city that connects two continents. The event will conclude with the prize giving ceremony followed by a gala dinner accompanied by the beauty of the Bosphorus.
