Sports Car Digest Comments: Ecurie Ecosse was a Scottish racing team founded by racing driver David Murray and mechanic Wilkie Wilkinson. The team’s most noteworthy achievements were winning the 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans and 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans in Jaguar D-Types. Ecurie Ecosse cars were always distinctive in their Flag Blue Metallic paint with white nose band as seen in this Lister Jaguar.

“Suddenly there was an almighty howl of sound, a blast of wind, the whole car shook, and Masten went steaming past like a bat out of hell. He was well out in the lead with the Lister-Jaguar all sideways, his arms crossed up and fighting the steering. I remember having a sudden twinge of shock and thinking ‘To heck with this, if this is motor racing I’m going to give up now.’ It really put me off. I didn’t think anyone could drive a car as quickly as that.” – Formula One champion Jim Clark remarking on Masten Gregory racing the Lister Jaguar at Spa in 1959.
