Lola Celebrates 50 Years in Motorsports

When Eric Broadley and his cousin Graham built their first Ford sidevalve engined special in 1955, little did they realize that fifty years later their name would be synonymous with success across the entire spectrum of motorsport.

Three years later Lola Cars was created in 1958 to market an 1100cc sports racing car designed by Eric Broadley. Almost a half century has passed since the modest efforts of the Broadley cousins laid the foundations of a company that would build close to 4000 cars embracing a range of models as great as motor racing itself.

Lola and their Lola Heritage website documented the firm’s 50 years of achievement in a profiled called, “The Story.” The chronicle covers the early years, the Le Mans and Ford GT40 connections, the Indianapolis 500 successes, and so on. It’s a great read, and we highly suggest you take a look. The pictures alone are worth a visit.
