The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO of Charles Nearburg was named winner of this year’s Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award, announced during Retromobile Week on 5th February 2013 at Le Pre Catelan in Paris.
Since 2005, the Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award is given to an automobile judged “Best of the Best” by the jury of specialists at Louis Vuitton. To become eligible, the car first has to be judged “Best of Show” at one of the top events worldwide, including the Cavallino Classic, Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, Concours d’Elegance of America, Quail Motorsports Gathering, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, among others. These winners are then examined by a jury of specialists and the criteria considers the elegance and the refinement of the coachwork, exterior and interior, the mechanical beauty, the form and function appropriateness, as well as the authenticity, the historical importance and the rarity.

Since 2005, just two awards are given each year at the Louis Vuitton Classic Awards by a jury of automotive professionals: the Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award and the Louis Vuitton Classic Concept Award. The awards are for vehicles and concepts that were inspired by the challenges of innovation and expertise.
In addition, the Peugeot Onyx Concept supercar was named winner of the Louis Vuitton Classic Concept Award and the Italdesign Brivido was given a “Special Prize” for its hybrid concept design.
