Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance 2011 – Photo Gallery

The Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance 2011 was held Sunday, May 15th at the Marin County Fairgrounds in San Rafael, California. An estimated crowd of more than 5,000 were on hand to see more than 200 American and European automobiles on the show field.

The featured marques at the third annual Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance were Rolls-Royce and Stutz. The 2011 event honored a century of two American icons – Chevrolet motor cars and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The event also offered vintage wooden runabouts on view in the Civic Center lagoon, a showing of vintage travel trailers and motorhome “house cars” and a special gathering of British car club vehicles in the car club corral.

Among the rare Indy cars in recognition of 100 years of racing at the fabled Brickyard was the #17 rear-engined Cooper-Climax driven to 9th place in the 1961 race at the Brickyard by Jack Brabham. The little Cooper began a revolution at Indy and signaled the coming end of the classic front-engined Kurtis-Offy roadster.

The Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance 2011 awarded Best of Show – Concours d’Elegance to the 1934 LaSalle Series 350 Convertible owned by Jason and Ben Solomon, while the 1938 Delahaye Model 145 Coupe of Peter and Merle Mullin won Best of Show – Concours de Sport.

The Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance is a non-profit fundraiser for Hospice By The Bay. For more information, visit www.marinsonomaconcours.org.

Photographers Dennis Gray and Bob Ross documented the Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance 2011 with a selection of photos that highlight the fun and eclectic display of cars, in addition to the rainy and windy weather.
