The 5th annual Masterpiece will be held on the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 22-23, 2009. The Masterpiece is a full weekend of automotive events, including the Club Day on Saturday and Concours d’Elegance on Sunday.
Saturday’s Club Day includes American Power, European Sports and up-to-the-minute World-Class Exotica. Club Day has become a gathering place of both local and national clubs dedicated to the car collecting hobby. In 2008, over 15 clubs representing interests in everything from Jaguars to Hot Rods gathered together bringing over 150 automobiles for display.
The Concours d’Elegance on Sunday honors history’s most beautiful cars, including the finest antiques, classics, historic race cars and muscle cars. The featured marque of the 2009 Masterpiece is Ferrari, co-chaired by Alan Boe and Matt Backhaus. Mr. Boe is a well-known Ferrari expert who also chooses the Ferrari which appears at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The chairmen personally selected and invited 15 examples of the rare and highly valued vintage Ferrari to exhibit at Sunday’s Concours. Several of the selections are one-of-a-kind racers or personal cars such as that of classic film star Ingrid Bergman.
The Concours’ complementary featured marque will be Bentley, chaired by Kaye and Tom Kovacs.
In addition to the exhibits on the show field, The Masterpiece Weekend includes the Historic Driving Tour and the Style & Speed Social.
The Masterpiece has become a must see event for thousands of enthusiasts who spend a day or two admiring the cars, enjoying food and beverages, seminars and an awards presentation with Lake Michigan’s stunning shoreline as a backdrop.
The event benefits JFS, Inc., a 142 year-old comprehensive social services agency that assists individuals of any race, religion, income or lifestyle. JFS provides meals to homebound elderly; counseling for children, adults and families in distress; support to individuals with mental illness; and teaches life skills to those living with developmental disabilities – regardless of their ability to pay. “We are thrilled to bring this fantastic event to the community in support of this agency’s programs”, said Sylvan Leabman, President and CEO of JFS. “Cars were invented to improve the quality of one’s life, and that purpose mirrors what JFS does for so many.”
