Mille Miglia 2011 Adds Auction and United States Tribute

Mille Miglia 2011 InformationThe Mille Miglia 2011 will take place from Wednesday, May the 11th (optional), to Sunday, May the 15th in Italy. With applications for entry due soon, the event organizers MAC Group are staying busy not only with applications but also by growing the events surrounding the Mille Miglia.

While the 2010 edition of the Mille Miglia saw the addition of a Ferrari Tribute, the biggest change for 2011 is an automobile auction will be staged May 11th on the eve of the start of the race. Organized by the German Auction House, Lankes Auctionen, for the next two years collectors, participants, and enthusiasts can gather at the Brescia Trade Fairgrounds to take part in the auction of 20 classic cars and automobiles.

Other news for 2011 includes the Tribute to the Mille Miglia in the United States. The U.S. Mille Miglia Tribute aims to give Americans a taste of the emotions of the race by following a route through the landscape of the West Coast. The event will be open to cars of particular historic value—built between 1927 and 1957—with entry privileges given to cars that have already raced in the historic Mille Miglia speed race. The company in charge of organization, Stratus Media Group Inc, is the sole official sub-licensee of the Mille Miglia trademark for events organized in the United States until June 2012.

After the success of the 2010 event, the Ferrari Tribute to the Mille Miglia, will return with 130 Ferraris, both from the past and from the present, which will parade on the road before the cars to open the race.

Additionally, the 2011 Mille Miglia will have its own traditional International Roadshow, bringing Italy and its Territorial Marketing—a series of initiatives designed to show the value of the land—to five world capitals.
