Monical Collection Added to Houston Sale – Worldwide Auctioneers

1935 Auburn Boattail Speedster at Houston AuctionWorldwide Auctioneers will present the R.E. Monical Collection Auction in conjunction with next year’s Houston Classic Auction, a selection of 74 motorcars offered entirely without reserve. The two-day sale play will play an integral part in the Houston Classic Weekend, which is scheduled to run over four days to accommodate a number of exciting new motoring events.

“Mr. Monical has been building his collection for nearly 25 years and has amassed a versatile group of cars from the teens through the sixties. He focused on buying cars with unique options and importance, from his dual quad, factory air-conditioned ’57 Ford Fairlane to his timeless and highly desirable ’35 Auburn Boattail Speedster,” said John Kruse, Managing Partner.

“We are delighted that in addition to presenting more than 110 exceptional automobiles at the Houston Classic Auction itself, we are in a position to be able to transform the event into a two-day sale and offer this entire additional collection without reserve.”

No less integral to the Houston Classic Weekend is the Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance, an event that last year attracted over 13,000 visitors from across the US and overseas. “The Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance is a unique occasion, proudly showcasing the largest combined selection of fine automobiles and vintage wooden boats to be enjoyed anywhere in the world”, said Bob Fuller, Concours Chairman. “Last year more than 200 exquisite classic automobiles and 74 wooden boats were displayed and this, the 15th anniversary of the event, looks set to be the most special yet. We are pleased to honor Alfa Romeo, celebrating its own 100th anniversary and also Packard, as this year’s featured marques.”

The Houston Classic Weekend runs from April 29th through May 2nd, 2010. New features for 2010 include the Tour d’ Elegance on Friday April 30th, a memorable driving tour incorporating selected highlights of the city and Bay area, as well as the R.E. Monical Collection Auction itself that evening. The Houston Classic Auction is scheduled for Saturday May 1st. The Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance will take place on May 1st and 2nd, at the Lakewood Yacht Club, just outside Houston in Seabrook, Texas.

“The economy in Texas remains buoyant, Houston itself is a world class city and a great place to visit and we look forward to enjoying a fantastic weekend this spring with friends and fellow enthusiasts,” said Rod Egan, Managing Partner of Worldwide Auctioneers and also the company’s Chief Auctioneer.

“The Houston Classic Weekend has rapidly become one of the most enjoyable vintage car events on the calendar. It offers exceptional automobiles, a stunning venue and perhaps most importantly, a unique laid back attitude and atmosphere that is a tremendous hit with all entrants and auction attendees alike. I am extremely excited about all of the additions and improvements to this year’s event.”

Quality consignments for the Houston Classic Auction are still invited and may be discussed with either Rod Egan or John Kruse, at 1-800-990-6789.
