New Amelia Island Event for 2013

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 DaytonaFor the second year in a row, a new event will be staged during the Amelia Island Concours weekend. Replacing the Concorso Atlantico event from 2012, the inaugural Festivals of Speed Amelia Island will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the renovated Omni Amelia Island Plantation in Florida.
While Concorso Atlantico was designated for vehicles of Italian heritage, the Festivals of Speed will blaze a broader path, billing itself “a gathering the world’s most exotic vintage and contemporary automobiles, aircraft, motorcycles and watercraft.” Similar to Concorso, the Festivals of Speed Amelia Island is a separate and independent event and is not affiliated with the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.
To kick off the Festivals of Speed Amelia Island 2013, which will benefit the Spina Bifida Association of Jacksonville, collectors, sponsors and enthusiasts are encouraged to attend the ‘Luxury Lifestyle Cocktail Reception’ on Friday, March 8th at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation.
The main event will be held Saturday, March 9th, 2013 with a display of over 250 automobiles, motorcycles, watercraft and luxury lifestyle products on the 17th fairway of the resort Oak Marsh golf course. Both vintage and modern examples will be featured with a spotlight on the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini and the 100th anniversary of Aston Martin. Notable entries include a 1936 Packard 12 Dual Cowl Phaeton by Dietrich, the first pre-production 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible, a 1994 Ferrari 333 SP, an alloy-bodied 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB, 1958 Tojeiro-Jaguar Sports Racer and Aston Martin GT3 race car, among others.
