Radnor Hunt Concours 2013 Information

The 2013 Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance will be staged September 6-9 on the grounds of Radnor Hunt, outside Philadelphia in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The 17th annual event will feature Art Deco Period Cars, Rally Cars and Aston Martin. Norton is the featured motorcycle make for this year’s event and it will share the spotlight with American Flat Track Racers.

“This year we will cars from the Art Deco Period, an era noted for flamboyant styling,” said Michael G. Tillson III, chairman, Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance.

“And the show field will also showcase rally cars and Aston Martin, which celebrates its one hundred year anniversary this year and British motorcycle manufacturer Norton. The motorcycle field will also showcase American Flat Track racing bikes from around the world. The 2032 event will once feature a display of vintage sleighs along with horse-drawn coaches and carriages that illustrate the evolution of transportation.”

The Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance encompasses three days of activities beginning with the Friday evening Barbecue, followed by the always popular Road Rally through the scenic countryside of Chester County on Saturday morning, culminating in a catered lunch. The Saturday also includes the return of the Car Club Experience with seminars by noted automotive authorities and the evening Black Tie Gala and Art Show is the prelude to the main event, the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday.

Included in the selection of cars destined for the show field at the 2013 Radnor Hunt Concours are a 1947 Bentley Mark VI Franay Cabriolet, 1937 LaSalle Convertible, 1960 Triumph TR3 FIA Rally Car, 1958 Aston Martin DBR1 and 1936 Aston Martin Le Mans Special.

The featured motorcycle marque will be Norton with a selection of post-war Norton motorcycles. The guest of honor will be Dick Klamfoth, winner of the 1949, 1951 and 1952 Daytona 200 race on his Norton. This year’s event will also feature a special collection of American Flat Track Racers. This means motorcycles raced in the USA, not just American manufacturers, and will include racers from Harley-Davidson, Indian, BSA, Crocker, Triumph, Norton, Honda, Yamaha and others. There will be guest judges from the flat track racing community for the Concours.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Thorncroft Equestrian Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The Thorncroft Equestrian Center is committed to a mainstreaming approach for teaching horseback riding and promoting the development of new and independent therapeutic riding programs, particularly for those with special needs.
