Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance 2011 Information

1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster at Radnor Hunt ConcoursThe Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance 2011 will be held September 9-11 on the grounds of Radnor Hunt, outside of Philadelphia in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The featured marques for the 15th annual 100 Motor Cars of Radnor Hunt are Jaguar, Stutz and the Designs of Virgil Exner. Ducati is the featured motorcycle make for 2011.
“This year we will feature cars from British automaker Jaguar, a name long associated with elegant sedans and sleek sports cars,” said Michael G. Tillson III, chairman, Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance, “And the show field will also showcase legendary Stutz automobiles and Italian motorcycle manufacturer, Ducati. Our featured designer class is the Designs of Virgil Exner, and his son,Virgil M. Exner Jr., will be an honored guest at the event. The 2011 event will featured once again a display of vintage horse-drawn coaches and carriages that illustrate the evolution of transportation.”
The Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance 2011 encompasses three days of activities beginning with the Friday evening barbecue, followed by the popular Road Rally through the scenic countryside of Chester County on Saturday morning, culminating in a catered lunch. The Saturday evening Black Tie Gala and Art Show is the prelude to the main event, the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday.
Included in the selection of cars destined for the show field are a 1916 Stutz Bearcat Roadster and some of Virgil Exner’s most intriguing designs from Chrysler. An added attraction is that his son, Virgil M. Exner Jr., will be an honored guest at the event as well. Jaguar will be represented with a selection of Jaguar C-Types, D-Types, XK120, XK140 and XK150. There will also be a selection of Jaguar E-Types in celebration of the model’s fiftieth anniversary this year and a very special Jaguar SS100 has been secured for the show field.
Featured motorcycle marque Ducati will include some of the landmark models including a 1974 Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica and a 1975 Ducati 750SS previously raced by Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling of Cycle Magazine. In addition, David Hailwood, son of famed motorcycle champion Mike “The Bike” Hailwood, will attend as an honored guest.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The Joan Karnell Cancer Center at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and Thorncroft Equestrian Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The Joan Karnell Cancer Center provides progressive, comprehensive and supportive cancer care through a wide range of services. The Thorncroft Equestrian Center horseback riding programs are designed to educate equestrians in the enjoyment and care of the horse.
