Rallye Sunseeker Historique 2013 – Report and Photos

The Rallye Sunseeker Historique 2013 was staged 18-19 October on the south coast of England in Poole, based at the waterfront venue of the RNLI College. This year’s event served as the final round of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship.

Victory in Category 2 of the 2013 Rallye Sunseeker Historique gave Richard Hill and Pat Cooper the overall Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship title in their Ford Escort MkI.

The duo led former triple Champion David Stokes’ Escort MkI, claiming a perfect nine category stage wins, six of them overall.

In Category 1, a Porsche 911 battle between Rikki Proffitt/Phill Harrison and Dessie Nutt/Geraldine McBride – they were tied on identical times after the first four stages – looked set to go Proffitt’s way, until his car stopped in the day’s final stage.

In Category 3, Ernie and Will Graham (Escort RS) appeared to be heading for victory, after Gareth James and Steffan Evans (Escort RS1800) suffered an ignition failure on SS2 which cost more than 40secs, but James had other ideas. He pushed hard for the rest of the day, claiming a hat-trick of overall historic stage wins in the day’s final three stages, to win the category by 14.7secs.
