The RM Auctions Arizona sale promises to kick off the 2012 auction season in style with the sale of nearly 150 classic and significant automobiles. Held on the grounds of the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa January 19th and 20th, the 13th annual RM Arizona auction features an important selection of Ferraris in addition to a wide array of significant automobiles.
“Following another vibrant year in 2011, we’re thrilled to return to Arizona in January and kick off what is shaping up to be another exciting auction season,” says Rob Myers, Chairman and Founder, RM Auctions. “Ferrari is truly one of the world’s leading automotive marques and remains the perennial leaders of the pack when it comes to achieving great prices at auction. Among this gathering of headline Ferraris are a one-off 1957 Ferrari 410 Superamerica with Scaglietti bodywork, a 1973 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder, a 1963 250 GT Lusso, a never-registered 1991 F40, a 1952 342 America, and a 1958 250 GT Berlinetta.
Also on offer at the 2012 RM Arizona auction is the Karl Blade collection. The owner of private motor coach manufacturer Newell, Blade is a well-known collector of American luxury convertible of the ’50s and his collection is offered without reserve. Standouts include a 1953 Packard Caribbean Convertible, a 1947 Chrysler New Yorker Town and Country Convertible, a 1934 Lincoln Model KB Convertible Roadster, and a 1956 Lincoln Premiere Convertible.

The 2012 RM Auction Arizona sale will be held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona January 19th and 20th. Items will be available for preview January 18th from 12pm – 6pm, January 19th from 9am – 6pm and on January 20th from 9sm – 12pm. The auction will begin on January 19th at 7pm, and on January 20th at 12pm. Admission requires the purchase of a catalog, which is available for $120, and includes admission for two people for the two-day event when presented for entry.

Lot 232 - 1957 Ferrari Superamerica 410, s/n 0671 SA - Estimate $1,750,000-$2,250,000. One of just 34 Superamericas constructed and the only one to bear bodywork crafted by Scaglietti. Unique bodywork combines competition-inspired aluminum panels and brushed stainless-steel rocker panels, tail fins, and roof. Powered by the original 4.9 liter, 340hp Lampredi V-12. 0671 SA has been carefully restored and subsequently won its class at Pebble Beach.

Lot 267 - 1973 Ferrari Daytona GTB/4 Spyder s/n 16705 - Estimate $900,000-$1,100,000. One of just 121 factory built spyders and retaining its original books, tools, and matching-numbers 352 bhp, 4.4 liter DOHC V-12 engine. Offered for the first time in 23 years.

Lot 263 - 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta, s/n 4459 GT - Estimate $900,000-$1,100,000. One of only 355 “Lusso” or “Luxury” 250 GTs built, piloted to a 14th place finish in the 1964 running of the Targa Florio. Equipped with its original 240hp, 3 liter SOHC Colombo V-12, s/n 4459 GT has received Ferrari Classiche certification and several Platinum Awards since a comprehensive restoration.

Lot 258 - 1991 Ferrari F40 - Estimate $650,000 - $750,000. Delivered new to Lee Iacocca but never registered. Odometer shows less than 300 miles and remains on the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin. Recently received major service by Patrick Ottis.

Lot 249 - 1952 Ferrari 342 America - Estimate $800,000 - $1,000,000. 1953 Geneva Motor Show display car and participant in the 1953 Rallye Soleil-Cannes. Well-documented history with matching numbers. The subject of a comprehensive restoration followed by display at Pebble Beach.

Lot 226 - 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta s/n 0861 GT - Estimate $450,000 - $525,000. Meticulously restored with comprehensive history file and matching numbers. Recent participant in the Colorado Grand.

Lot 128 - 1959 BMW 507 - Estimate $900,000 - $1,200,000. Rare series II model with increased engine output, revised fuel tank, and improved driving position. One of just 251 BMW 507s constructed, recently comprehensively restored by RM Auto Restorations.

Lot 136 - 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster 1600 - Estimate $300,00 - $375,000. Rare matching numbers example recently treated to nut and bolt restoration by Tim Goodrich. Fully documented including Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, multiple award winner, and cared for by the Peterson Automotive Museum.

Lot 113 - 1955 Austin-Healey 100M LeMans Roadster - Estimate $115,000 - $145,000. Factory built 100M retaining all original speed parts. Subject of a comprehensive restoration with only test miles since completion. Paperwork includes a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and Gold Certification by the Austin-Healey Concours Registry

Lot 254 - 1962 Lotus 23B Sports Racer - Estimate $175,000 - $225,000. Formerly owned by Mike Rahal and noted vintage racer Ed Henning. Completely restored and recently displayed at Amelia Island.

Lot 140 - 1965 Shelby GT350 - Estimate $225,00 - $275,000. Rare first year Shelby Mustang. Restored with numbers matching engine and has recently completed several long distance vintage rallies.

Lot 217 - 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 - Estimate $750,000 - $850,000. Just 11,000 miles from new. Original condition with the exception of a a 2007 bare-metal respray in its original color.

Lot 266 - 1953 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster - Estimate $450,000 - $650,000. The fifth Corvette built and one of the first three examples ever sold to the public; sold new to the DuPont family; accompanied by copies of original sales invoice, GM correspondence and more; restored to NCRS Top Flight award-winning standards.

Lot 242 - 1963 Maserati 3500 GT Vignale Spyder - Estimate $300,00 - $375,000. Heavily optioned with triple webber carburetors, five speed transmission, four wheel disc brakes, electric windows, and Borrani wire wheels.

Lot 281 - 1928 Stutz Series BB Coupe by Corsica - Estimate $225,000 - $285,000. Originally a Stutz Black Hawk speedster, the frame was cloaked in unique Corsica bodywork in-period. Further optioned with a high compression engine.

Lot 246 - 1932 Auburn V-12 Speedster - Estimate $325,000 - $400,000. Recent "Best in Show" winner at an Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg show. Restoration in the early 2000s rumored to have cost in excess of $400,000.

Lot 269 - Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8A Boat Tail Tourer - Estimate $400,000 - $500,000. Rare bodywork on an equally rare chassis. Well cared for and a former Amelia Island award winner.

Lot 235 - 1933 Laganda 3 Liter Tourer - Estimate $225,000 - $350,000. Well known on historic rallies in the 90s, recently restored in 2008.

Lot 135 - 1930 Duesenberg Model J LWB Dual Cowl Phaeton - Estimate $900,00 - 1,200,000. ACD-certified original Lebaron bodywork and the only such Duesenberg with this bodywork mounted on the long wheel base chassis. Formerly owned by John O’Quinn.

Lot 221 - 1914 Rolls Royce 40/50 Silver Ghost Landaulette - Estimate $700,000 - $900,000. From the Estate of John O'Quinn and formerly owned by the Henry Ford Museum, Ben Moser and Richard Solove. Certified matching numbers and recently restored by Steve Littin.
