Russo and Steele Monterey 2011 – Auction Preview

The 2011 Russo and Steele Monterey Sports and Muscle auction will be held August 18-20 at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Monterey, California. The 11th annual Russo and Steele Monterey sale will see more than 200 cars cross the auction block, including nearly half offered at No Reserve.
Headlining the 2011 Monterey sale is the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTS; 1967 Chevrolet Corvette ‘Pickett Race Car’; 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7; 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 LS6 ‘Pilot Car’; 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda and 1967 Shelby GT500. Other highlights include the collection of late-fifties DeSoto, Chrysler and Dodge convertibles that will be crossing the block Thursday night, August 18th, many offered without reserve.
In 2010, Russo and Steele offered 251 cars, with 101 finding new owners, reflecting a 40% sales rate. The total sales volume was $8,086,875 and the average price per car sold was $80,068. Top sale went to the ex-Mark Donohue, Trans-Am Championship-winning 1971 AMC Javelin Race Car that sold for $847,000, followed by the 1965 Shelby Cobra CSX2461 at $649,000 and the 1966 Lamborghini 350 GT that made $440,000.
The Russo and Steele Monterey Auction is located at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Monterey. Auction preview days will be from Wednesday, August 17th through Saturday, August 20th. The auctions will be held on Thursday, August 18th, Friday, August 19th and Saturday, August 20th, with all evenings starting at 5:00 PM.
