You’re right, but if it sells for the estimated “Well into eight figures,” it will break any and all auction records. The current record is $10,894,000 by a Ferrari 250 GT SWB Cal Spyder.

READ the article. The last time I checked Ferrari wasn’t an American car. The article says it should break the record for AMERICAN cars.

The Cobra Daytona Coupe CSX2287 is now on public display at the new Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia. Dr. Simeone assembled over 50 years one of the gratest collections of racing sports cars in the world.

In addition to the Cobra, the Museum features a 250 TR, the “Hippie” Porsche 917, an AM DBR1 driven by Moss, Brabham and Clark, and the Cunningham that won the 53 Sebring. (Oh, and I didn’t mention the Le Mans-winning Bugatti “Tank”, Jaguar C-Type, D-Type, Ford Mks II and IV.) Probably the “jewel” of the collection is the 1938 Alfa Romeo 2900B that won the Mille Miglia in 1938.

It’s a fabulous collection displayed in dioramas depicting the races where the cars actually ran. If you’re at the New Jersey Motorsports Park for an event, the Museum is an easy 45-minute drive.
