Since coming to Arizona in 2008 Gooding & Company has established itself at the core of the Arizona collector car auction experience, bringing outstanding cars and a refreshing upscale environment.

2012 continued that record, recording the Arizona auctions’ highest sale, the credibility-defying $4.6 million sale of alloy Gullwing s/n 1980435500208, the second-highest total sale value in this year’s Valley of the Sun extravaganza and leaving only two of the 118 cars to return to their consignors, a brilliant sale rate of 98.3%.

Porsche Collection Offered at Gooding Amelia Island 2012

The Porsche Collection of Matt Drendel will be offered at the 2012 Gooding and Company Amelia Island Auction, scheduled for Friday, March 9th in Amelia Island, Florida.

The Drendel Family Collection consists of both road and race cars spanning 25 years of Porsche history from 1973 – 1997, with 10 of the 18 lots being offered without reserve. In addition, Gooding Amelia Island 2012 sale marks the first time many of these historically-important racing stars will have ever been presented at auction.

Gooding and Company Scottsdale 2012 – Auction Results

Gooding & Company held its 2012 Scottsdale Auction event on January 20-21 at the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale, Arizona, resulting in $39.8 million in total sales and a 98% sales rate.

Gooding offered 118 lots for sale in Scottsdale, with top sale going to the alloy-bodied 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing that sold for a world-record $4,620,000.

Gooding and Company Scottsdale 2012 – Auction Preview

When Gooding and Company opens their 2012 auction season at the Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Arizona January 20th and 21st, they’ll do so with a bang as the more than 100 cars on offer will be headlined by an alloy-bodied 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing and a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider.

Early Consignments for Gooding Amelia Island 2012

Gooding & Company will return to Florida for its 2012 Amelia Island Auction on Friday, March 9th.

Held on the grounds of the Omni Amelia Island Plantation, the 3rd annual Gooding & Company Amelia Island sale will feature a 1953 Fiat 8V Zagato (estimate $750,000 – $900,000), a matching-numbers 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing (estimate $700,000 – $900,000) with factory-installed Rudge wheels, a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 (estimate $275,000 – $350,000) and a 1947 Ford Sportsman (estimate $225,000 – $275,000).

Packard Collection at Gooding Scottsdale Auction 2012

A collection of Packard Twelves from the estate of Thomas A. Moretti will be featured at the 2012 Gooding & Company Scottsdale Auction, scheduled for January 20-21 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The headline offering from the Moretti Collection is a 100-point 1932 Packard Twin Six Coupe formerly owned by Hollywood legend Clark Gable.

Gooding Scottsdale Auction 2012 – Headline Offerings

Gooding & Company Pebble Beach 2011 – Auction Results

The Gooding and Company Pebble Beach Auction 2011 was held August 20-21 at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center in Pebble Beach, California. Gooding’s 7th annual auction, again held in association with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, saw total sales of $78.18 million and an 84% sell-through rate. The two-day sale achieved a $13.6 million increase from last year with 19 new world records.

“Overall our Pebble Beach Auctions this year were sensational, but the ultimate moments for me were when we broke through two major world records with the Ferrari Testa Rossa Prototype and the Whittell Coupe,” says President and founder David Gooding.

The Gooding and Company Pebble Beach Auction 2011 will be held Saturday, August 20th and Sunday, August, 21st at the Pebble Beach Equestrian Center in Pebble Beach, California. Gooding’s 7th annual auction, again held in association with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, will feature more than 150 cars, including 27 estimated to reach bids in excess of $1,000,000.

The Gooding and Company Pebble Beach 2011 sale has several major offerings, highlighted by the 1931 Duesenberg Long Wheelbase Model J Whittell Coupe; 1927 Mercedes-Benz S-Type 26/180 Sportwagen; 1921 Bentley 3-Litre; 1932 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton and 1963 Shelby Cobra 289 Factory Team Car.

Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Expected to Break Auction Record

Gooding & Company announced that the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype (s/n 0666 TR) and the 1963 Shelby Cobra 289 Factory Team Car (s/n CSX2129) will be offered at auction at their upcoming Pebble Beach Auctions on August 20-21, 2011.

Gooding Pebble Beach Auction 2011 – Featured Consignments

The Gooding and Company Pebble Beach Auction 2011 will feature the oldest surviving production Bentley in existence, Chassis 3, in addition to a 1931 Brough Superior SS80 once owned by both Steve McQueen and Von Dutch.

Whittell Duesenberg at Gooding Pebble Beach 2011

The Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auction 2011 will feature a bespoke Duesenberg Long Wheelbase Model J designed for Captain George Whittell Jr., known as the Whittell Coupe.

“Historically, Duesenberg Model J owners were among the most powerful and worldly of America’s pre-war elite and, with six model Js in his collection, George Whittell was Duesenberg’s best customer of all time, even surpassing Clark Gable and Gary Cooper,” said David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company.

Gooding & Company Amelia Island Auction 2011 – Report

Gooding & Company staged its Amelia Island Auction event on Friday, March 12, 2011. Last year Gooding debuted on Amelia Island at the Amelia Island Plantation, a site which Bonhams (then known as Brooks Auctioneers) tried in 2000 with little success.

RM Auctions, which had set up shop at the Ritz Carlton site of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance thirteen years ago in 1999, repulsed Bonhams’ assault. RM enjoyed unchallenged sway over the North Florida market since.

Gooding and Company Amelia Island Auction 2011 – Results

Gooding & Company held its Amelia Island Auction event on Friday, March 12, 2011, achieving more than $17.8 Million in sales and an 11% increase from the inaugural sale last year. The Gooding Amelia Island Auction 2011 saw 85 collector automotive and motorcycle consignments presented (two lots were withdrawn prior to auction), with 70 lots sold to a domestic and international clientele for a sales rate of 82%.

The top sales at the Gooding and Company Amelia Island Auction 2011 were the 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Cabriolet at $1,870,000, the 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV Prototype that sold for $1,705,000, followed by the 1973 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider at $1,320,000.

Gooding and Company Scottsdale Auction 2011 – Report

The Gooding & Company Scottsdale Auctions 2011 was presented on January 21-22 at the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Benny Caiola late model Ferraris, the Fiat 8V Supersonic, Tucker #10, barn find Cobra CSX 2289 and other headline cars made Gooding & Company’s fourth Scottsdale sale an important auction.

But more than that, delicacies like the Stutz Speedway Six Brougham, “Bonnie Jean” the Renault AX and the Kurtis family’s 500S resurrection made it a celebration of the diversity and wide ranging appeal of the automobile’s history.

Italian collector cars will receive a lot of focus at the upcoming Gooding & Company Amelia Island Auction 2011, to be held Friday, March 11th at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation in Florida. Scottsdale Auction Results 2011 – Better Across the Board

“Better” is very good.

While the Big Dog, Barrett-Jackson, hasn’t released its final results yet it’s fair to conclude that the 2011 Scottsdale Auctions were, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the best in several years.

Both Gooding ($34,980,900) and RM Auctions ($30,995,075) posted better totals than in 2010 – RM by a big margin (57%).

More significantly, their sell-through rates were better, Gooding up 1.3 points to 93.1% and RM up 7.8 points to 95.6%. That included plenty of No Reserve cars at both auctions, but even beyond that they sold nearly everything that rolled.
