More than 200 cars took part in the 2008 Tour Auto Lissac, a historic rally run in honor of the legendary Tour de France Automobile race.
The Tour De France Automobile was originally run in 1899, then continuously from 1906 until 1965 minus war-time interruptions. A brief hiatus from 1966 – 1969 was followed by a name change to “Tour Auto” and a renewed spirit into the rally. The original form of the Tour de France Automobile/Tour Auto was run until 1986, when lack of sponsors and competitors forced the event to end.
The Tour Auto was again revived in 1992 as a vintage-based rally that covers an original Tour de France Automobile route every year. Fortunately, this version has been well-received by the classic car community, as the rally has become a cannot-miss event.
