Automotive artist Charles Maher has announced a new series of paintings celebrating early Trans Am legends like Dan Gurney, Mark Donohue, Parnelli Jones and Sam Posey. The paintings and a limited-edition run of museum-quality giclée prints signed by the drivers are available exclusively from the artist.
“As a young Ford designer, I attended many Trans Am races during that golden era and even had the opportunity to meet many of the heroes of the series, such as Parnelli Jones and Dan Gurney,” Maher said. “The motion, sounds, people and machines had a tremendous impact on me and my friends. This new series was intended to honor those great American road-racing muscle cars and the men who gave us some of the most thrilling competitions of the modern age.”
Maher’s work has illustrated virtually every name-brand automotive event in the country over the past year. He was commissioned to create the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise poster art for the tenth year by the city of Ferndale, Michigan; he was selected as the poster artist for the 2007 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona; and he was commissioned to create the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance poster artwork this year. His studio is located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where he resides with his wife of 33 years.
