Source/Location: eBay Listing; car is located in San Diego, CA.

Seller Comments: “Very little is known about the history of the Vale. Dave Cox had wrote a book dedicated to the Vale Special called AVE ATQUE VALE. The book referenced about 52 cars including ours on page 169 our car is noted as still retaining its original motor. Nearly 20% of the Vale Special are un-restored or simply parts of a Vale Special, the remaining majority have not been seen in decades or are lost cars. The true number of existing models is unknown. We have only uncovered 3 in the United States.”

“We acquired this 1933 Vale Special from a collector in North Carolina judging from his paperwork he bought the car nearly 20 years ago from Renee Perlman of Port Chester, NY. The owner did have the car restored to the highest standards. The vehicle was completely disassembled and finished in a deep red. The gentleman had shown the vehicle at the Hilton Head Island Concours in South Carolina.”

“This 33 Vale Special is in great running condition, the vehicle was recently tuned and brakes were serviced. Equipped with its original 832cc engine and manual transmission. We have a few parts and photos that are included with the purchase of the vehicle also included is the Vale Special Book by Dave Cox. ”

“This is an extremely rare and unique opportunity to really own something “Special”. Very limited in its production and even more so rare today.”

Sports Car Digest Comments: The Vale Special is a neat car. Sure, a golf cart with the governor taken off could beat the Vale on a road course or the drag strip. Nonetheless, we are still struck by its sharp looks and unique story.

Market: The major price guides do not list a price for any Vale, and SCD could not find any auction sales. A price in the low $40,000 would probably get the trade done, as we can’t imagine it wouldn’t garner such a bid at the right auction.
