The Keeneland Concours d’Elegance 2013 will be staged Saturday, July 20th on the grounds of the historic Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky. This year’s event will feature a show field of more than 130 classic automobiles and motorcycles competing for honors in 19 judged classes.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2013, the Keeneland Concours will honor the Ford Mustang. The event will feature five classes for Mustangs, ranging from the earliest versions to today’s models. One of the featured cars will be a 1967 Shelby GT 500 Convertible, a one-off that was Carroll Shelby’s personal car and served as a template for later Mustang development. Working with the Bluegrass Mustang Club, the organizers are expecting 1,000 examples of Ford’s Pony Car to grace the lawn at the Keeneland Race Course to celebrate 50 years of Mustang’s debut in 1964.
“What better place to showcase the fabulous Ford Mustang than at the historic Keeneland Race Course, where we’ve had the pleasure for the past nine years to bring together collector vehicles from across the country,” said Tom Jones, Keeneland Concours co-chair. “We’re looking forward to sharing another great event with the people of Lexington and the region.”
The Concours silent auction will be held inside the Keeneland Entertainment Center. Available auction items are posted on www.keenelandconcours.com. And be sure to visit the artists section of the website for more information about nationally acclaimed artists who will showcase their work.
