RM Auctions Automobiles of Arizona Auction 2011 – Preview

1933 Packard Twelve Sport Phaeton RM Auctions returns to the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix on January 20-21 for its 2011 Automobiles of Arizona auction event.
The 12th annual Automobiles of Arizona features two days of auctions, starting with the ‘The British Are Back’ evening sale on Thursday, January 20th that will showcase a host of great British marques, including Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce and Jaguar and others. A total of 60 lots will be offered during the British-themed evening sale, many without reserve.
The British auction will be followed by another strong collection of automobiles on Friday, January 21, 2011. In total, more than 120 examples are set to cross the block on the second day, headlined by the 1949 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta; 1933 Packard Twelve Sport Phaeton; 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton; 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spyder; 1965 Ferrari 500 Superfast Series I and 1964 Dodge Hemi Charger Concept Car.

The Automobiles of Arizona auction will also feature vehicles from the estate of Chicago collector, Bill Jacobs. Well-known in the collector car community, Jacobs was a lifelong enthusiast and dedicated his life to collecting every imaginable variety of collector car. In total, 25 examples from his eclectic collection will be offered in Arizona ‘without reserve’, many as featured highlights during RM’s ‘The British Are Back’ evening sale. Notable entries include a 1959 Costin Jaguar; a 1952 Tojeiro MG Barchetta Sports Racer; a Corvette-powered 1956 Arnolt Bristol Roadster; a 1935 Ford Woody Custom Wagon; and a 1947 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible.

Bill was a passionate collector, well-known by the collector car community and a dear personal friend for many years. The RM Auctions Automobiles of Arizona auction 2011 event will be held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix on January 21-22. A preview will be held January 20st from 9am to 4pm, followed by the British-themed Thursday night auction, billed ‘The British are Back!’, starting at 6pm. The auction continues on Friday, January 21st at 11am. Admission requires the purchase of an official auction catalog, available for $100. The catalog admits two and must be presented for entry.
