The near-mythical 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting was staged March 19-20 on the 7-turn, 2.4-mile Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, England. From jaw-dropping cars and enthralling on-track action to sensational off-track festivities, the historic motorsport spectacle more than lived up its billing for Goodwood Road Racing Club members and their guests.
Created by Goodwood owner, Lord March, to recreate the atmosphere and camaraderie of the original BARC Members’ Meetings held at Goodwood Motor Circuit in the 1950s and ‘60s, the Goodwood Members Meeting conjures up some of the most evocative sights and sounds from the golden era of motor racing. The 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting featured 11 races for a huge range of historic cars and, for the first time ever, motorcycles; three high-speed demonstration runs also celebrated some of the most iconic racing cars in the sport’s varied history.
Senior Photographer Julien Mahiels documented the 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting. In addition to his race gallery, we offer the following selection of images from Julien that offer a ‘Behind the Scenes’ look at this year’s magical Members Meeting.
